These Optimist buoyancy bags are made from polyurethane-coated nylon, making them approximately half the weight and significantly stronger than PVC or PVC-coated nylon bags. Some models are equipped with a tube valve with twist lock. This valve is connected to a tube, making it easy and quick to inflate and deflate the bags. The 48 liter bags are slightly heavier than the 43 liter bags, but after a capsize there is much less water left in the boat.
